EmotionalBeing healthy emotionally means being in control of your mind, your feelings (or lack thereof) and learning better coping mechanisms during different situations in your life. How in tune are you with yourself when it comes to keeping positive thoughts and understanding your behavior? Familydoctor.org defines emotional health as, "Being emotionally healthy does not mean you are happy all the time. It means you are aware of your emotions." How do you deal with stressful situations? Can you explain the emotions flowing through you? Don't let anyone invalidate your feelings because they don't want to care. Emotions are real and do not make you weak or immature. Don't act like you're not human. Some of us may live in an environment where expressing is not encouraged, so they bottle it up. That is very detrimental to your health. As an example it's like holding in farts. If you are in the hospital after surgery, they will only discharge you if you have passed gas so they can make sure your intestines are working properly. I don't know if they do this for every post-surgical recovery, but for some. Some people have a lot of emotions and some people don't have many. That's fine. If a person doesn't cry at a sad movie who cares? As long as they know themselves, how they express is their unique way. It's all about knowing yourself inside and out.
